กระทุ่มเป็นพืชตระกูลเดียวกับกระท่อม แต่ใบเล็กและกลมป้อมกว่า สมุนไพรสองตัวนี้สามารถนำมาใช้แทนกันได้ ทั้งวิธีการใช้และสรรพคุณ คือ ใช้เคี้ยวกิน ต้มน้ำกิน หรือกินใบอ่อนเป็นผักเพื่อเป็นยาชูกำลัง ดอกกระทุ่มมีกลิ่นหอมเวลาบานเต็มต้น นิยมใช้เป็นส่วนผสมของเครื่องหอมในสมัยก่อน
Krathum is related to the Kratom tree but has smaller, rounder leaves. Both plants can be used similarly for their herbal benefits—chewed, brewed as tea, or young leaves eaten as a tonic. When in full bloom, Krathum flowers release a lovely fragrance and were traditionally used in making natural perfumes.
